The Sannos Ducks

Welcome to Sannos: What We’re All About

Welcome to the Sannos blog! So, what exactly is Sannos? If you’re thinking it sounds like a vitamin supplement or a new yoga style, you’re almost there! Sannos is a movement toward sustainable, animal-based, and natural living, founded by me, Phoebe—a 22-year-old engineer with a passion for self-sufficiency and harmony with nature, based in Australia.

Over the past few years, I’ve uncovered information that’s left me skeptical about most store-bought products, from food and skincare to clothing and furniture. With more evidence emerging about the harmful chemicals in many conventional products, I decided it was time for a change. After facing some health issues, I transitioned to an animal-based lifestyle around a year ago, following nearly eight years as a vegetarian and vegan. This shift has made me feel better than ever, and it’s refocused much of my energy and interest into other aspects of my health.

So, with a background in engineering and a deep interest in health and well-being, I began crafting my own products, like tallow-based moisturizers, sun balms, deodorants, and foods like sports gels and jelly snacks. It didn’t take long before friends started asking me to make some for them, and I realized there was an opportunity to provide products for people committed to healthy, sustainable living who may not have the time to make everything themselves. And so, Sannos was born.

These lifestyle changes have also strengthened my homesteading vision of a cozy log cabin, a greenhouse for year-round growing, a workshop for projects, and a homestead full of animals. I started my journey toward this dream with my first five ducks—Donald, Daisy, Peaches, Simpson, and Henrietta—who provide daily eggs. I believe that with a little guidance, anyone can take steps toward a sustainable, self-reliant lifestyle. You could say I’m a “homesteader in training”—and this blog will be a roadmap for anyone on a similar journey.

The purpose of this blog is to dive deep into health and nutrition to share discoveries that often go beneath the surface. My hope is to help you make informed decisions for a healthier, more natural lifestyle. Plus, I’ll share the insights that shape my ongoing product development as I prepare to launch Sannos products. Stay tuned!

Each week, I’ll post insights, tips, and information from my journey to make animal-based, nutrient-dense living accessible and practical. Topics will range from nutrition to other health essentials, covering everything from recipes to sleep and exercise—because, crazy as it sounds, we need all of these to live our best lives. Every post will be rooted in peer-reviewed research (with in-text referencing and a reference list), and I encourage you to approach every new idea critically. No two people are the same, so take what resonates and adapt it to your own needs. Expect DIY tutorials, natural remedies, and routines that foster a balanced, sustainable lifestyle.

At the heart of Sannos is a desire to connect with like-minded individuals interested in sustainable, informed living. I’m building a community for those curious about self-sufficiency or seeking a healthier lifestyle. In time, I’ll organize workshops and tutorials, and for now, the Sannos blog, Discord server, and Facebook page are here to support the creation of this community.

Thank you for joining me here at Sannos! I’m thrilled to share this journey with you. Stay tuned for next week’s post on the pillars of health—the key areas of well-being we should focus on.
